A New Jersey man was sentenced to 10 years in prison for committing credit card fraud on unsuspecting victims over an extended period of time.
U.S. Attorney Christopher J. Christie reported that the man was using victim’s identity to get credit cards and in the meantime, defrauded financial institutions of more than $450,000.
Director of Fraud
Kevin Truluck, 50, a resident of Camden County without any permanent address, has been ordered to pay $451,755 and serve an additional five years under supervision upon his release from prison.
Truluck pleaded guilty to 12 counts of fraud before U.S. District Judge Joseph E. Irenas.
During his hearing, Truluck told the court that he stole the names, Social Security numbers and dates of birth from innocent people to obtain credit cards from 12 different financial institutions.
Truluck would use the mailing addresses of those who worked under him so that when the institutions sent statements and other information, it would go to a mailing address that him and his fellow employees had complete control over.
After receiving the credit cards, Truluck and his partners would go on spending sprees at the unknowing victim’s expense.
