Contractors Sued for Failing to Complete Work

<< Back to News

The Consumer Fraud Division’s Attorney office in Cook County, IL, has filed suits against two home repair and remodeling contractors who are said to have collected money for jobs they didn’t finish, or even start.

The Claim

The Attorney’s claim that Steven Guajardo, owner of USA Roofing and Remodeling and Bobby Valles, who owned Neighborhood Plumbing and Sewer Repairs, are reported to have taken thousands from clients and failed to complete any of the work promised.

When customers asked for their money back, the two men refused to do so and did not have a listing of their business or residential addresses on any of their contracts, which the consumers signed.

The suit was filed after several Cook County residents complained about the two contractors, who both ran the businesses from their homes.

Attorneys are hoping that the suit will prevent these contractors from continuing to do businesses in Illinois until getting the necessary licenses and approvals to do so.

A $50,000 civil penalty fee is also being held against the defendants due to fraudulent billing and unfinished work.

The men are also being accused of going against the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act, along with the Illinois Plumbing Licensing Act.
