An identity theft ring was revealed when Broward police officials in Florida uncovered the criminals just before they were ready to strike again.
The suspects arrested are now in police custody and have been charged with stealing the identity of several Broward and Palm Beach County residents.
Thieves Caught in Action
Police arrested Antwon Clark, Sophia D. Williams, Larushiea Cross, Kela Marquett Haynes and Aziza U. Alvarez last week at a local Shell gas station.
According to detectives the five thieves were meeting at the gas station to continue on their identity theft spree with the help of a homeless woman who they included to take part in their crimes.
Reports claim that the crew was preparing to use homeless woman, Teresa Rojas, to cash stolen checks throughout Broward County.
Several driver’s licenses, credit cards, gift cards, marijuana, jewelry, social security cards and a can of chemical defense spray were found in the car driven by Clark.
Police have already linked many of the stolen items to robberies that occurred over Memorial Day weekend at North Lauderdale Park.
All five suspects were charged with possession of stolen property, felony possession of marijuana and possession of burglary tools, amongst other charges.
