A consumer who believes that information was withheld from her when she bought the iPhone recently filed a lawsuit against AT&T INC. and Apple Inc.
The suit claims that both companies failed to tell consumers who bought the iPhone early on, that annual fees of more than $100 would be needed to replace the phone's battery.
Consumers File Suit
The suit, which was filed on Monday, involves Sydney Leung, a consumer who claims she is suing the companies on behalf of the hundreds of thousands of other iPhone users who were also fooled.
Apple and AT&T are being accused of committing fraud because they reportedly failed to inform customers about the procedures and costs associated with the iPhones battery replacement.
The complaint states that the battery has to be changed every 300 charges, which forces consumers to get a battery replacement in less than a year and pay over $100 annually.
Leung Files the First Suit
Leung purchased the iPhone when it first came out and was allegedly required to agree to a two-year service agreement with AT&T.
However, she claims that at the time of purchase she wasn't informed about any additional fees she would be forced to pay for the battery replacement.
According to the suit, Leung believed she had a two-year warranty and insurance that would cover anything that went wrong with the phone.
Though, she quickly found that this wasn't the case.
