Nixon Sues Shop for Fraud

<< Back to News

Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon recently filed a suit against Greene County Choppers Inc., claiming that the owners wrongfully took payment from their customers.

The suit claims that the shop failed to deliver items or issue refunds.

Suit Filed Against Business Owners

The lawsuit was filed against Christopher and Steven Ferrell, two business owners from Springfield who are being accused of not following through with sales involving five different customers between September 2005 and October 2006.

A customer from Las Vegas reportedly purchased two motorcycle parts from defendants through eBay for $1,019, and then received the wrong parts.

According to Nixon, the customer has yet to receive the correct parts or a refund.

Another customer reportedly paid $33,818 for a motorcycle; however, the bike was demolished in a crash before it was delivered and the man never received a refund or new bike.

Attorney General Takes Action

Nixon has taken action to ensure that these customers receive their money and the storeowners don't take advantage of more customers in the future.

“It's a pretty simple concept-when you run a business and a consumer pays for goods and services, your obligation is to deliver what has been paid for or refund the customer's money. Period,” said Nixon.

He is seeking a court order asking the defendants to pay the consumers and be penalized for their actions.
