A hearing has been scheduled in Pontotoc County, OK, for a woman accused of submitting fraudulent insurance claims for non-existent cattle.
The woman has been charged with five counts of insurance fraud along with six counts of embezzlement.
The Accusations
Holly Timmons Campbell, a 26-year-old woman recently confessed to the state Insurance Department that for over a year, she was creating false companies to gain money from unsuspecting people.
In that year, Timmons Campbell received more that $42,971.
She also reported to investigators that she created false documents and insurance claims about cattle that she never owned.
Background of a Thief
Timmons Campbell worked for the Southern Oklahoma Livestock Auction when she began stealing money through claims.
Part of her job at the Livestock Auction was to submit claims on behalf of the cattle owners.
However, most of the checks were written to Timmons Campbell and she identified the signatures on the owner’s checks as her own writing.
“This is not an issue I take lightly, and I will do everything in my power to protect Oklahomans from such crimes,” stated Insurance Commissioner Kim Holland.
